The climate and environment
of Karuizawa
Scotland is the home of whisky, and Karuizawa is said to have been the place where Alexander Croft Shaw, a Canadian missionary, was so impressed by its beautiful nature and climate that he praised it for reminding him of Scotland.
As a result of this influence, the region has long been popular with foreigners, and even today there are many buildings that retain a strong Western cultural flavor.
In addition, the clear water and cool climate at the foot of Mt. Asama provide an ideal environment for growing barley and maturing whisky.
We are committed to whisky that can only be produced in this region, and we are happy to present here a few of the everyday scenes of our activities.
