We are working on genuine 'Karuizawa whisky',
which is made from distillation to maturation in Karuizawa Town.
The cool climate of Karuizawa and the clear water of Mt.
Asama are the ideal environment for growing wheat and maturing whisky.
Beyond the Legend
Old Karuizawa Whisky once charmed the world.
We invited Yoshiyuki Nakazato, the last Master Distiller at the former Mercian Karuizawa Distillery,
to be our new Master Distiller of Karuizawa Whisky Co., Ltd,
and began distillation in December 2022,
with the first barrels filled in early 2023.
The first distilled whisky will complete its 10-year aging in 2033.
In order to allow customers to fully enjoy the "value of time" nurtured by the rich nature of Karuizawa,
we do not sell newmake as a product.
Whisky fans around the world eagerly await the birth of a new legend.
Since 1653 The Edo era
The origin of Karuizawa whisky is Totsuka Shuzo, a long-established brewery that has been making sake for over 370 years since the Edo period.
In addition to that, He launched the new whisky company under the name of Karuizawa Whisky Co.,LTD welcoming Mr. Nakazato as a Master Distiller and Mr. Uchibori as an official advisor (He sadly passed away in 2021).
Both of them used to work for the old Karuizawa Whisky under Mercian.
We honors the legacy of the Iconic Japanese Whisky named Karuizawa Whisky by Mercian and are now challenging to surpass it.
