We are committed to producing authentic "Karuizawa Whisky",
which is distilled and matured in Karuizawa.
Karuizawa's cool climate and the clear waters of Mount Asama are the ideal environment in which to grow barley and mature whisky.

Beyond the Legend

Old Karuizawa Whisky once charmed the world.
We invited Yoshiyuki Nakazato, the last whisky distiller at the former Mercian Karuizawa Distillery,
to be our new distillery manager,
and began distillation in December 2022,
with the first barrels filled in early 2023.
The first distilled whisky will complete its 10-year aging in 2033.
In order to allow customers to fully enjoy the "value of time" nurtured by the rich nature of Karuizawa,
we do not sell newmake as a product.
Whisky fans around the world eagerly await the birth of a new legend.

The parent company of Karuizawa Whisky is Totsuka Shuzo,
a long-established brewery that has been producing sake for over 370 years since the Edo period.
This is a unique whisky, created in Karuizawa by the 16th Master Brewer,
utilizing the local water and atmosphere.
Please enjoy the new story of Karuizawa Whisky,
which was inspired by the old Karuizawa Whisky and sets out to surpass that legend.
